“I bought a lot of singles, you know, 45s. But as far as the first album I bought, well, it would have been a blues record. It would have been a Freddie King album, probably.

It might have been `Freddie King Goes Surfin’,’ which was all instrumentals. I remember that I bought that one. You know, it had nothing to do with surf music, but they were trying to sell it, I guess. It’s all marketing.”

Kim Simmonds leads the current incarnation of Savoy Brown in the inaugural blast of the second annual Rockin’ on the River concert series at 5pm Wednesday, June 10. The free outdoor concert takes place in Troy near the Green Island Bridge, behind Ryan’s Wake.
