FantaCon is back…

The comic book, horror and fantasy convention FantaCon is being held on Saturday & Sunday (September 14 & 15) at the Albany Marriott Hotel on Wolf Road. The first FantaCon was held in August, 1979, and now 34 years later, it’s finally back! The convention features horror film actors, comic book artists, and lots of vendors with tons of rare merchandise – all providing an intimate convention experience.

The convention runs from 10am-6pm on Saturday and from 10am-5pm on Sunday. Tickets are $16 per day in advance; $20 at the door; children age 10 and younger are free with each paid adult admission. Advance two-day tickets are also available for $30.

Dress in your best zombie attire and gruesome make-up, and you can be part of the FantaCon fun, crawling through the streets of downtown Albany in the Zombie Walk. Festivities kick off at the Albany Heritage Area Visitors Center at 6:30pm on Thursday (September 12), as a mob of performers will dance to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” followed by the Zombie Walk along Clinton Avenue toward the Palace Theatre. NOTE: A Quarantine Zone will be established on the sidelines for spectators hoping to get a good look at the zombies without risking infection.

And here’s a round-up of the other ghoulish special events that are being presented at the Palace Theatre in conjunction with FantaCon. Admission is $13 for each evening at the Palace; a three-night pass is also available for $30:
