Hey, you know, we kinda like Eddie Money, but we’re a little burned out on the guy…

His performance at the Empire State Plaza Convention Hall – moved indoors from the Plaza due to the weather forecast – earlier this month was his second time headlining the New York State Food Festival in just the past four years. And it was Money’s seventh (at least) annual summer tour stop in Nippertown…

Do we really need to hear “Two Tickets to Paradise” every summer?

Back in Nippertown for his fourth free show in five years, veteran rocker Eddie Money had the headlining slot at the annual Empire State Plaza Food Festival at – where else? – the Empire State Plaza in Albany last week.

Money came armed with his new single, “One More Soldier Coming Home,” his tribute to the troops. But it was his old hits that really got the crowd stirred up. He fired off “Baby Hold On” and “Walk On Water” early on and revved things up with “Take Me Home Tonight” and “Two Tickets to Paradise” towards the end of the show. Let’s face it, Money hasn’t had a hit since the ’80s, but he still knows how to wail on those big, hook-filled rockers, especially when backed by a solid band led by his longtime guitarist Tommy Girvin.

Eddie Money

Veteran rocker Eddie Money offered fans “Two Tickets to Paradise” as he performed at Albany’s Riverfront Park on Thursday, July 22 for the latest of the Alive at Five concerts.

It was Money’s third annual free concert performance in Nippertown. And this time he brought along his daughter Jesse Money to add some additional charm and vocal power.

Here’s how the concert looked to photographer Matt Mac Haffie:

Eddie Money, What Was the First Album You Ever Bought?

July 19th, 2010, 12:30 pm by Greg

Eddie Money“I used to buy things like ‘My Boyfriend’s Back’ and ‘It’s My Party’ by Lesley Gore, but those were singles.

You know, the first album I ever bought might have been by the Four Tops. I used to buy all of their stuff.”

Eddie Money returns to Nippertown for his third annual free outdoor concert, this time as part of Albany’s Alive at Five concert series in Riverfront Park at 5pm on Thursday. The Tom Healey Band opens the show. Admission is free.

Real Good for Free: Eddie Money @ Monument Square, 9/19

Raise your hand if you’d rather hear Eddie Money than Moby.

OK, that’s what we thought…

But that’s not gonna stop Mr. “Two Tickets to Paradise” from heading back into downtown Troy for what we’ve decided to call the second annual Free Money in the Collar City Concert. (You may recall that Money was in Troy for a free concert last August as the headliner at the New York-Penn League All-Star Fan Festival.)

Kicking off Troy’s Hudson Quadricentennial Celebration on Saturday, September 19, Eddie Money will once again be belting out his hits at a free outdoor performance in Monument Square. Rockabilly faves Johnny Rabb & the Jailhouse Rockers get the musical festivities underway at 2pm, followed by Money at 3pm.

Or of course, you could go to LarkFest…
Or the Irish 2000 Music and Arts Festival…
Or the Lake George Jazz Weekend…
