The East Greenbush Community Library in East Greenbush is once again hosting its summer Music Series throughout the upcoming month of July. The concert series takes place on Wednesdays at 7pm, and although admission is free reservations are recommended because the EG Library concerts are one of the very few summertime concert series around Nippertown that are held indoors where seating is limited.

Here’s the 2014 schedule of free concerts at the East Greenbush Community Library:

July 2: Katsura Band
July 9: Peaceful Country
July 16: The Mark Capon Trio
July 30: Marty Wendell & His Tour Band

The East Greenbush Community Library is hosting a series of four concert this summer. The performances will take place indoors in the library’s main multi-purpose room. And while admission to the concerts is free, seating is limited, so it’s best to call (518) 477-7476 to make an advance reservation.

The East Greenbush Community Library is once again hosting its annual Summer Music Series, and unlike nearly all of the other free concert series sponsored by the towns or libraries around Nippertown, this one is indoors rather than outdoors.

The concerts take place at 7pm on Wednesdays unless otherwise noted.

Here’s the schedule of upcoming shows for 2011:

July 20: Spiral Tango (guitar and flute duo)
July 27 (6:30pm): Veena and Devesh Chandra (traditional Indian music)
August 17: The GTO’s (a cappella doo-wop)



Hudson Valley Writers Guild Announces Short Fiction Winners

Congrats go out to the winners of the Short Fiction Writing Contest sponsored by the Hudson Valley Writers Guild. The competition was open to writers throughout New York State.

The winners are:

First Place: Ken Holland, Fishkill
Second Place: Jo Salas, New Paltz
Third Place: Carol Derfner, Kinderhook
Honorable Mentions:
John Velie, Albany
David Sylvester, Watervliet
Susan Clements, Buffalo

The six winning writers will be honored at a reading at 1pm on Saturday, April 2, at the East Greenbush Community Library. Refreshments will be served, and the reading is free and open to the public.
