Dee Dee Ramone died seven years ago today.

He was extremely clever and prolific as far as coming up with new songs constantly. That was all he had to do: write, create and perform. I took care of all the rest. In all of our years together, Dee Dee never even had to change as much as a light bulb–he would probably opt for buying a new fixture instead. Some of his greatest hits were “53rd & 3rd,” “Rockaway Beach,” “Chinese Rocks,” “Commando,” “Too Tough To Die,” “Something To Believe In,” “I Believe In Miracles” and so many more. People of his caliber don’t come around but once in a lifetime. He was genuinely a good person but a slave to his own demons. He just couldn’t shake them and eventually they consumed him.
