The Saratoga Performing Arts Center’s 2009 season kicks off tonight with a whimper, not a bang.
Or rather a cancellation, not a show.
Here’s the lowdown from Coldplay’s website:
“We’re sorry to report that Coldplay have been forced to postpone tonight’s show in Saratoga Springs, due to illness. They’ve asked us to apologise for the inconvenience this causes, but we are currently in the process of re-arranging the show for another date – please stay tuned to Coldplay.com for details. Thanks folks.”
Seven-time Grammy Award-winners Coldplay are in a giving mood – and don’t ya think they should be? Especially considering that they’re charging $103.50 (plus a vast array of assorted extra handling charges) for the top ticket price at their Wednesday, May 27 tour stop, launching the 2009 summer concert season at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.
The Brit band is offering an “exclusive” nine-track live CD – titled “LeftRightLeftRightLeft” – to everyone who buys a ticket to a Coldplay concert in 2009.
But wait – there’s more… Apparently, even poor people can enjoy Coldplay, too. If you can’t figure out a way to shell out the big bucks for their SPAC show – which also features opening acts Pete Yorn Yorn and Howling Bells – you can simply go to the band’s website for a free download of the same giveaway album beginning on May 15, when the band’s upcoming U.S. tour starts up.
Track listing for the “exclusive” live disc:
1. Glass of Water
4. Strawberry Swing
5. The Hardest Part/Postcards from Far Away
6. Viva la Vida
7. Death Will Never Conquer
8. Fix You
9. Death and All His Friends
