Chuck Miller: Nipper Polar Panorama
Yes, this print of one of our favorite dogs, the Nipper Polar Panorama created by Chuck Miller back in June, will be up for auction at Art Saves Animals next Thursday, September 30, from 5:30-8:30pm at the Arts Center of the Capital Region in Troy.
Tickets for an evening of wine, fine food and your chance to bid on this print, along with a host of other artwork (some of which we will be showcasing over the next week and a half) are just $40, and the proceeds go to help The Mohawk & Hudson River Humane Society in their efforts to save the lives of homeless, abused and abandoned pets in the Capital Region.

Congrats go out to photographer-writer Chuck Miller, who is spreading the word about Nippertown’s namesake at the New York State Fair. His photograph, “Nipper’s Polar Panorama,” was awarded a red ribbon for its second place finish in the New York State Fair 2010 Photography Competition in the “color, non-traditional” category.
Miller was also awarded an honorable mention yellow ribbon for another of his photographs in the same category.
The photographs will remain on exhibit at the New York State Fair in Syracuse through Labor Day, Monday, September 6.

Chuck Miller, a photographer who knows a little something about one of our favorite dogs, has posted a moving story about Vincent, a cat he unwittingly adopted. He’s also the first artist to donate a work for the Mohawk and Hudson River Humane Society’s Art Saves Animals auction fundraiser this September 30.
Chuck, we like you even more now, if that’s possible.

managed to get permission to get on the roof of the Arnoff Moving and Storage building and shoot a polar panorama of Nipper. It’s a great story and we are so jealous.

It’s a wierd, Beantown kinda day here in Nippertown. We’ve got a CD review for the cruisin-for-a-lawsuit Boston Celtics. We’ve got a Neighborhoods preview.
And we’ve got a mention of Chuck Miller’s blog post about the history of Albany’s Nipper. Different guy, but Chuck Miller is also the name of the Neighborhoods longtime live sound mixing wizard. Coincidence? Oh, I don’t think so.
Writer, photographer, record collector and all-around pop culture vulture Chuck Miller has devoted today’s post on his Times Union blog to Albany’s favorite music-loving canine.
So if you don’t already know the tale of Nipper, you can find out most everything that you’d like to know right here. You can also see some lovely photos of our Nipper, too.
And thanks for the Nippertown.com shout-out, Chuck. We appreciate it.
