Award-winning blues writer Don Wilcock offers a lecture on the current state of the blues at the Boght Arts Center in Cohoes at 7:30pm on Saturday.
In his talk, “Never Felt More Like Praising The Blues: The Blues Are Dead and Other Common Misconceptions About the Genre” (now that’s a mouthful), Wilcock promises to “demystify the roots of American popular music.”
Longtime music writer at The Troy Record, Wilcock is also contributing editor of Blues Revue and editor in chief of BluesWax. He wrote Buddy Guy’s authorized biography, “Damn Right I’ve Got the Blues,” and was honored with the Keeping the Blues Alive in Print award from the Blues Foundation in 2008.
Admission to Saturday’s talk is $5.
