It’s a Bob Marley weekend!

Bob Marley is stepping into the spotlight at The Egg in Albany on Thursday. And there’s a Bob Marley tribute concert at the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock on Saturday night.

Just don’t get the two confused.

At The Egg is Bob Marley, comedian. Straight outta Maine, funnyman Marley’s long stand-up comedy career spans 11 CDs, 4 DVDs (including his new CD/DVD set, “Drop It Haahd!”), more than 100 television appearances and even movie roles in such films as 1999’s “The Boondock Saints,” and last year’s sequel, “The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day.” Showtime is 8pm, and tix are $22.50.

Meanwhile, it’s the late, great reggae superstar Bob Marley, who will be honored at the Bearsville Theater on Saturday – the 65th anniversary of his birth. Upstate Reggae is presenting the 26th annual “Woodstock Tribute to Bob Marley” featuring performances by the Meditations, the Big Takeover, Jeremiah, Michigan (of Michigan & Smiley), Royal Heart Sound, Fine Tune and Jamaica’s Starcade. Tix are $20 in advance; $25 at the door. Doors open at 8pm, and the first 50 paid admissions will receive a free CD.

And the Original Wailers made good on that promise in Albany’s Riverfront Park on Thursday, August 13 at the final Alive @ 5 concert of the 2009 summer season.
