The Evenings on the Green concert series returns to the Bethlehem Public Library in Delmar for a month-long celebration of free homegrown music beginning on Wednesday (July 2) with rockabilly-country-gospel-rocker Marty Wendell.

The concerts take place weekly on the library’s lawn during July at 7pm on Wednesdays. The concerts will move indoors in the event of rain.

The Bethlehem Public Library in Delmar is once again hosting its annual Concerts On the Green concert series featuring free outdoor performances by Nippertown bands on the library’s lawn.

The concerts take place at 7pm on Wednesdays throughout the month of July, kicking off this evening with a performance by jazz trumpeter Terry Gordon and his band.

Here’s the schedule of concerts for 2011:

Marty Wendell: Live and Rockin'(Simply 21 Records, 2010):

Marty Wendell is an old-school country music singer-songwriter. The Ticonderoga native recorded his first single, “Hey Hey Mama,” back in 1967. He’s toured with Johnny Cash and recorded at the legendary Sun Studios in Memphis.

Over the years, Wendell has explored various facets of his musical roots – from the acoustic folk of “It’s Just Me” to the gospel collection “What I Am Today” – while always remaining true to honest, straight-forward sounds of country.

The Bethlehem Public Library in Delmar is bringing back its annual summertime tradition of the free Evenings on the Green concert series once again this year.

The concerts will take place outdoors on the library lawn – indoors in case of rain – at 7pm on Wednesdays in July.
