“We’re Babe City, but he’s like Babe USA,” joked Olivia Quillio onstage when her all-female supergroup Babe City opened up for songwriter/heartthrob Sean Rowe at Steamer No. 10 Theatre.
“Babe International” would even apply to Rowe these days, as the Troy native has been around the world and back since signing to Anti- Records, a label he shares with musical heavyweights like Merle Haggard, Tom Waits and Bettye LaVette.
Babe City – the freshly formed all-female all-star quartet featuring Olivia Quillio, Meg Duffy, MaryLeigh Roohan (of MaryLeigh & the Fauves) and Caroline Corrigan (of the Red Lions) – made their stunning debut at Valentine’s Music Hall last week opening for Langhorn Slim.
Now they’ve nailed down another high-profile booking – as the opening act for soulful singer-songwriter Sean Rowe, as he introduces songs from his upcoming sophomore album for Anti- Records at the Steamer No. 10 Theatre in Albany at 8pm on Saturday, March 17.
