On Saturday, June 7, Albany’s Lark Street will once again be shut down to traffic between Washington and Madison avenues as the street hosts its annual Art On Lark welcome-to-summer street festival. And it’s all free…

Named the Best Art Event in Metroland’s recent Readers’ Poll, the annual Art On Lark celebration returns to Lark Street from 10am-6pm on Saturday, June 7, with plenty of artwork on display (and for sale) by Local 518 artists.

But you can also count on some free homegrown music at Art On Lark, too. Here’s the schedule of band performances:

Parade of Shoes: Jocelyn Arndt

She’s got the talent to match the footwear…

This pair of shoes only gives a hint at how young Fort Plain vocalist-keyboardist Jocelyn Arndt, her even younger brother guitarist Christian Arndt and their band burned up the Washington Avenue Stage, closing out the Art On Lark street fest on Saturday, June 8.

Festival Fever: Art On Lark @ Lark Street, 6/11/11

Art On Lark

Art On Lark

No, it’s not quite LarkFest.

But after all, the Art on Lark street festival – which is taking place on Saturday – started out as a celebration of Nippertown’s thriving visual art scene. What music there was to be heard was relegated to solo acoustic performers hanging out on street corners without a stage or even a sound system.

When the 15th annual fest takes over Lark Street in Albany from 10am-5pm on Saturday, there will still be plenty of visual art to soak up, but there will also be two big stages pumping out non-stop homegrown music all day long. And Art on Lark has grown into the second largest street festival in New York State – second only to LarkFest. Admission, of course, is still free.

LIVE: Art on Lark @ Lark Street, 6/26/10

June 28th, 2010, 4:30 pm by Sara

Not all of the art at Saturday’s big Art on Lark street festival in Albany was of the painting and drawing kind. A lot of it was of the musical variety. And you don’t need much to make some pretty artsy music, either. So here’s a batch of music-making photographs from Saturday’s fest featuring a horn, a toy piano, a saw and a couple of electric guitars.
