Cheap Trick rolled into the Saratoga Performing Arts Center over the Fourth of July weekend for one of those nostalgic retro-rock package tours that seem to be the lifeblood of the summer amphitheater.
But it wasn’t all classic-rock re-hash. They actually played some new songs. From their new album, “The Latest.” Who says you can’t teach an old band new tricks?
But the slickest trick that Rick Neilsen and his mates have up their collective sleeve is that you can purchase the new album in a variety of formats – a compact disc, a vinyl album or – an 8-track cartridge.
That’s right – an 8-track.
Of course, being the collectors’ item that it is, the 8-track version of the album will set you back $30, as opposed to the vinyl ($20) or the CD ($12.99).
