Yeah, he’s the son of Willie Nelson. He and his band Promise of the Real also served as Neil Young’s backing band on Young’s latest album The Monsanto Years and subsequent tour. Now guitarslinger Lukas Nelson leads Promise of the Real into Putnam Den at 9pm on Saturday (November 14) for their first Saratoga Springs show since a stellar performance at SPAC during the 2013 Farm Aid. Joe Mansman & the Midnight Revival Band and Rich Ortiz open the Putnam Den show. Tickets are $15 in advance; $17 at the door.

Alex Bleeker & the Freaks kick off the outdoor festivities at 2pm. Vibraphonist Joe Locke will be joined by drummer Jaimeo Brown and bassist Ricky Rodriguez, as the Catskill-based jazz record label Planet Arts continues its Jazz one2one spring concert series at 8pm on Saturday (April 25) at the Central House Hotel Inn in Germantown. The concert is being presented in conjunction with “Masters of Jazz,” an exhibition of photographs by acclaimed lensman Chuck Stewart, which opens with a reception at 6pm. Tickets are $25.

Wild Ponies – the sweetly ass-kicking, subtly rocking, Nashville-based roots duo of Telisha and Doug Williams – made their Nippertown debut last September at Albany’s Steamer No. 10 Theatre, earning them rave reviews.

Now Wild Ponies are galloping back into town for a pair of concerts this weekend with drummer Jake Winebrenner in tow. They’re at the Otesaga Resort Hotel in Cooperstown at 7:30pm on Saturday as part of the Cooperstown Concert Series ($20; $15 seniors & college students; $8 students age 13-18; FREE children age 12 and under). And they’ll be making a tour stop at Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs at 7pm on Sunday ($16 in advance; $18 at the door).

Blues keyboardist Bruce Katz recently celebrated the release of his new album, Homecoming, with a bash at Club Helsinki in Hudson. At 8pm on Thursday (February 5), Katz – who is nominated for the Pinetop Perkins Piano Player of the Year Award at the upcoming Blues Music Awards in Memphis – returns to Club Helsinki to help lead the Pro Jam 9, where he’ll be joined by other Hudson Valley blues stalwarts including Slam Allem, Petey Hop, Rick Knapp, Sonny Rock and a cavalcade of special guests.
