Davis Orton Gallery in Hudson is seeking entries for a juried photobook competition culminating in a gallery exhibition and sale. Twenty winning books will be exhibited and for sale at the Davis Orton Gallery. Four photobooks will be selected as Best in Show. Up to 4 photographs (depending upon size) by each entrant awarded Best of Show will be exhibited in the gallery. The Mohawk & Hudson River Humane Society is seeking artists to donate work for Art Saves Animals 2010, an evening of live and silent auctions of original artwork and handcrafted items to be held at the Arts Center of the Capital Region on September 30. Everyone’s a critic: frieze, a British magazine of contemporary art and culture, is inviting entries for the Frieze Writer’s Prize 2010, which aims to promote and encourage new arts writers from around the world. Writers are invited to submit an unpublished 700-word review of a recent contemporary art exhibition. The winner receives an award of £2000 and a commission to write a review for the October issue.
