(Via Berkshire ArtStart) DownStreet Art is seeking guest curators for the third year of their highly successful public art initiative, which aims to revitalize downtown North Adams. Running from the end of June through mid-October, it begins with a kick-off celebration on June 24th; holds three “DownStreet Art Thursdays” (with all galleries hosting opening receptions and downtown performances); and it all culminates in North Adams Open Studios weekend on October 17th. (Deadline: March 15)

The Saugerties Chamber of Commerce is accepting proposals for a public art project, “Hors’n Around Saugerties 2010.” Artists will decorate fiberglass horses which will be displayed throughout the village in July and auctioned off for charity in September. (Deadline April 1.)

A feature film shooting in the the Capital District needs a talented youth gospel choir for a performance scene with the film’s star character. The chosen choir will also perform live during film benefit held next month. Choir must be local to the Capital District. Send performance videos to Kevin@MoBettaFilms.com. The Barrett Art Center Galleries in Poughkeepsie is accepting entries for their 23rd Annual National Juried Photography Exhibition, April 17 – May 15, 2010. Submission deadline is March 1, 2010.

Farm Film Fest III, originally scheduled for March 7, has been postponed due to the recent death of Crandall Theatre owner Tony Quirino. A new date will be announced later this year. However, they’re still seeking short films about farms, farming and/or the role farming plays in the local economy and food system. DVD entries should be 5 – 20 minutes long. Whoa, sorry for the late notice: The Berkshire Fringe is accepting applications for its 2010 festival. The sixth annual festival will feature three weeks of vibrant theater, dance and multi-media performances by emerging artists from across the United States and around the corner.

This year, six companies or individuals will be invited to participate. All participants receive:

* A state of the art theater space in which to perform
* Housing on the beautiful campus of Bard College at Simon’s Rock
* Extensive marketing and publicity
* Support from technical and front of house staff
* A percentage of all box office sales

Application (available online) postmark deadline is Monday, February 8.

Artists of the Mohawk Hudson Region 2010: The oldest regional juried art show in the country happens from Friday, October 1, 2010 through Sunday, December 12, 2010, hosted for the first time by The Hyde Collection, Glens Falls.

Charles Desmarais, Deputy Director for Art at the Brooklyn Museum since 2005, will serve as guest juror. As many as 300 living artists are expected to submit works, in a variety of media, from which approximately fifty will be selected for the exhibition. Eligible artists include those who reside within a 100-mile radius of either Glens Falls or the Capital Region. The deadline for entries is March 26, 2010. Awards will be announced at the exhibition’s opening reception scheduled for October 1, 2010.
