What Is Nippertown?
Nippertown is an online magazine based in the greater Capital Region and Hudson Valley regions of New York and western Massachusetts. We write about art, music and anything else that interests us.
Why Nippertown?
We like dogs. We like music. We especially like large outdoor sculptures of dogs that look like they’re listening to music.
Who writes Nippertown?
Metroland magazine recently named the Top 10 writers and Top 10 musicians of the Capital Region during the past 30 years, and Greg Haymes was on both lists.
He’s written about the music scene – both local and national – for a quarter century, and along the way he’s interviewed everyone from Bill Monroe to B.B. King, from Toby Keith to Philip Glass, from Sonny Rollins to Jeff Buckley. He’s split pizza with the Ramones and shared a bottle of Jack Daniel’s with Slash. He’s been a guest VJ on MTV.
Meanwhile, he’s also a working musician, equally at home in the recording studio or in the spotlight with pop-rock parodyists Blotto and the acoustic, traditionally minded Ramblin Jug Stompers.
In addition, he’s an award-winning visual artist whose genre-busting artwork has been exhibited at the Albany International Airport Gallery, Firlefanz Gallery, the Arts Center of the Capital Region, Albany Center Galleries and BRIK Gallery, among many other galleries.
Sara Ayers is a musician.
She has developed software for nerve research, robotics and everyone’s favorite highway toll system.
She runs a web development company.
She curates the Loop Sanctuary art and performance series.
