The singer-songwriter’s latest release, 2017’s Upland Stories, earned year’s-best recognition from NPR and Rolling Stone among many others, as well as two Grammy nominations, for folk album and American roots song (“Alabama at Night”). MUSIC: “Shadows and Light: A Jazz Tribute to Joni Mitchell” @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. Michael Eck hosts an evening of Joni Mitchell music as interpreted by jazz musicians of Greater Nippertown, including Peter Davis & Don Young, Lecco Morris and George Muscatello with Shiri Zorn & Brian Melick. 8pm. $27.

MUSIC: Lee Ann Womack @ Levon Helm Studios, Woodstock. The award-winning country singer began her return to traditional country with her 2005 CMA Album of the Year There’s More Where That Came From, moving her toward an authentic American music that celebrates her roots and adds to the canon. MUSIC/COMEDY: “Guitars & Guffaws” @ Putnam Place, Saratoga Springs. Hosted by Greg Aidala, the evening features stand-up performances by Mike Vecchione and Sarah Tollemache, as well as music by power trio Super 400. 8pm. $20.

strong>MUSIC/FILM: Philadelphia Orchestra @ Saratoga Performing Arts Center, Saratoga Springs. Constantine Kitsopoulos conducts the symphony as they play the live score to accompany the screening of “Star Wars: A New Hope.” 8pm.

DANCE: Bill Shannon @ PS21, Chatham. Maker Moves is a multimedia contemporary clown theater piece by performance/video artist Bill Shannon. Moving on crutches and a skateboard, Shannon explores the essential role failure plays in creative innovation. Using classic storytelling and absurdist physical comedy, Shannon takes on the character of a boisterous street busker attempting his most complex trick maneuvers on crutches to share with his audiences. 8pm. $35; students $10.
