NEW CONCERTS: New Concert Announcements

Albany’s Hollow Bar + Kitchen welcomes Seattle artist SYML at 8pm on Wednesday, January 24 in support of his sophomore EP, In My Body. Tickets are $7 in advance; $10 at the door. Also headed for the Hollow is The Academic, slated to step into the spotlight at 7pm on Sunday, February 18. Tickets are $10.27 in advance; $15 at the door.

In Troy, the Hangar on the Hudson hosts the Elvis Birthday Bash at 8pm on Saturday, January 6 featuring the Johnny Rabb Big Band, the Tichy Boys, Mark Gamsjager and special guests.

Putnam Den in Saratoga Springs is in the process of changing its name to Putnam Place, but live music will still be rockin’ the Place, including new upcoming shows by Boombox at 9pm on January 24 ($15 in advance; $20 at the door) and Perpetual Groove at 9pm on April 19 ($17 in advance; $20 at the door).

Misty Blues, Wyld Blu and Born 4 Blues will be representing the Capital Region Blues Network in Memphis later this month at the International Blues Competition. The three blues acts will be performing at the Upper Room in Albany at 12noon on Saturday, January 13 for a send-off party to help pay for their travel. Admission is $10.

After taking December off, Capital District Jazz Presents’ monthly Jazz at the Spring concert series returns with the trio of Teri Roiger, John Menegon & Joel Frahm at Saratoga Springs’ Spring Street Gallery at 7:30pm on Thursday, January 25. Tickets are $15 in advance; $20 at the door.

Corky Laing’s Mountain rumbles into the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock on Friday, February 9. Joining Laing will be guitarist-vocalist Chris Shutters and bassist Mark Mikel to play songs by Mountain as well as West, Bruce & Laing. Tickets are $20 in advance; $25 at the door.

In support of his latest album, Teardrops on My Tombstone, rapper Mickey Avalon takes the stage at Jupiter Hall in Guilderland at 7pm on Friday, March 30. He’ll be joined by Dirt Nasty (aka, former MTV VJ Simon Rex). Tickets for the all-ages show are $20 in advance; $25 at the door.

The Jersey Four – a Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons tribute group – takes over the Wood Theater in Glens Falls on Saturday, March 24 – at 2 & 7pm. Tickets are $35 in advance; $40 at the door.
