The annual Victorian Stroll, the new jazz concert series at the Spring Street Gallery and Howard Fishman playing music inspired by art works at The Tang were all going on in Saratoga Springs on the same night that acclaimed Boston-based singer-songwriter Will Dailey was making his Caffe Lena debut. And, yes, it’s fair to say that the odds were stacked against him from the start.

An audience of fewer than 20 people might have an adverse affect on many other performers, but not Dailey. He was engaging and connecting with the audience as he chatted between songs. His lyrics were thought-provoking and
honest. And he played his acoustic and electric guitars (and even banjo on a few selections) with passion and gusto, which was much appreciated by the onlookers in the room.

Sometimes when the odds are against you, you just go all-out with a devil-may-care attitude. And that’s just what Dailey
did.
