World renowned virtuoso Ustad Shafaat Khan brings his “East Meets West” concert to Greater Nippertown this weekend for a pair of performances.

Khan and his band will play The Linda in Albany at 8pm on Saturday (November 18) before moving on to the Bridge Street Theatre in Catskill for another concert at 2pm on Sunday.

Ustad Shafaat Khan – son of Ustad Imrat Kan and nephew of Ustad Vilayat Kahn – has performed at concert halls and festivals all over the world, and several of his CDs have been produced by Dr. Deepak Chopra. He is a multi-talented musician who performs on the sitar, surbahar and tabla.

The first half of “East Meets West” is devoted to classical Indian music (solo tabla, sitar and vocals) from the 16th century to the present. In the second half, maestro Khan will be joined by Ruby Ostrow (keyboards, vocals) and Coco Bastien (tabla) to perform a fusion of Eastern and Western music.
