NEW CONCERTS: This Week’s Round-Up

Hip-hop star and member of Wu-Tang Clan Ghostface Killah is headed into Putnam Den in Saratoga Springs at 9pm on Friday, December 1. Opening the show will be a Beat*Shot showcase featuring Zeo, Dezmatic ft. DJ White Lotus, JB!! A.K.A. Dirty Moses, Moses Rockwell and Und3rstanding, with DJs Nate Da Great and Trumastr. Tickets are $30 in advance; $35 at the door.

In addition to their previously announced concert at The Egg slated for 8pm on Wednesday, March 21, the reunited Dixie Dregs will also be making a tour stop at the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock at 8pm on Saturday, March 17. Tickets are on sale now, priced from $55-$90.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: JD McPherson and Brian Fallon headline the SKI-QX Winter Music Festival at the Stratton Mountain Resort with Wild Adriatic, Northern Faces, Made Violent, Banners, Juiceboxxx, Lovelytheband, the Rebel Light and the Hip Abduction rounding out the line-up.

In support of their upcoming self-titled new album, Pop Evil is bringing their Music Over Words Tour in for a landing at the Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park on Saturday, March 17. Palaye Royale and Black Map are the scheduled openers for the 8pm show. Priced at $18 in advance; $20 at the door, tickets go on sale on Friday (November 17).

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: First Night Saratoga has announced the line-up of performers for its 22nd annual New Year’s Eve celebration. Among the 70 performing groups will be Sawyer Fredericks, Sirsy, Ramblin Jug Stompers, Ashley Sofia, the Hot Club of Saratoga, Annie & the Hedonists, Sydney Worthley, Professor Louie & the Crowmatix, Matthew Boyce & the Suspicious Minds, Bob Malone, Shane Guerrette, the Holly & Evan Band, Belle-Skinner, Harold Ford: The Spirit of Johnny Cash, Mike Campese, Darling Valley and a whole lot more. Tickets go on sale on Friday, December 1.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Albany’s Times Union Center added two new concerts to its calendar with worship music Grammy Award winner Chris Tomlin and Country Music Hall of Famer Alan Jackson. Tickets for both shows go on sale to the general public on Friday (November 17).

Brazilian Girls’ drummer Aaron Johnston is putting together a new collaborative project dubbed J.E.D.I. (Jazz Electronic Dance Improvisation) for a three-night run through the northeast and wrapping up at the Hollow Bar + Kitchen in Albany at 8pm on Saturday, December 2. In addition to Johnston, the line-up will feature keyboardist/programmer Borahm Lee (Break Science/Pretty Lights Live Band), saxophonist Ryan Zoidis (Lettuce/Shady Horns) and bassist Nate Edgar (The Nth Power). The Magic Beans open the show. Tickets are available now, priced at $16.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Tribute band Zeppelin Complete rolls into The Egg’s Hart Theatre in Albany ’cause apparently we just can’t get enough of those Led Zep tribs.

In support of his latest album 14 Steps to Harlem (released earlier this year on Luna Park Records), singer-songwriter-rocker Garland Jeffreys returns to WAMC-FM’s The Linda in Albany at 8pm on Saturday, December 9. Tickets are general admission and are on sale now priced at $18.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Allman Brothers Band alum Jaimoe is slated to bring Jaimoe’s Jasssz Band to The Egg for their Greater Nippertown debut.

A gang of local Hudson Valley all-stars – including Randy Ciarlante, Bruce Katz, Bill Harris, Joey Eppard, Scott Petito and Andy Stack – will band together to play “The Music of Traffic” at Club Helsinki in Hudson at 9pm on Saturday, December 16. Tickets are $25.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Minneapolis synth-pop band Polica and the Berlin-based new music collective Stargaze are scheduled to team up at MASS MoCA’s Hunter Center in North Adams.

SOLD OUT: Last week we announced the acoustic concert by Lucius that’s slated for Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock at 6pm on Sunday, March 18. If you didn’t snap up your tickets quickly, well, you’re probably out of luck; the show is already officially sold out.

OPENERS: Gibbz will open the show for Saint Motel at the Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park at 8pm on Saturday (November 18).
