MUSIC: John McLaughlin & Jimmy Herring: The Meeting of the Spirits Tour @ The Egg’s Hart Theatre, Albany. Two of world’s foremost improvising guitarists perform full sets of music with their respective bands – John McLaughlin’s Fourth Dimension and Jimmy Herring’s Invisible Whip – and finish the night together. 7pm. $39, $49 & $59.

MUSIC: Scott Sharrard & the Brickyard Band @ the Cock ‘n Bull, Galway. The former lead guitarist and musical director of the Gregg Allman Band brings his own band to Galway’s roots music haven. 7:30pm. $35.

MUSIC: Ben Hunter & Joe Seaman @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. The multi-instrumental duo and winners of last year’s International Blues Challenge explores the intersection of race and culture through storytelling and their interpretations of a cappella novelty songs, fiddle tunes, acoustic blues and ragtime music. 7pm. $20.

THEATER: “Fun Home” @ Proctors, Schenectady. The winner of five 2015 Tony Awards – including Best Musical – is based on Alison Bechdel’s best-selling graphic memoir, introducing audiences to Alison at three different ages as she explores and unravels the many mysteries of her childhood. 1:30 & 8pm.

FILM/TALK: “Window Water Baby Moving” @ Skidmore College’s Tang Museum, Saratoga Springs. The best-known work by avant garde filmmaker Stan Brakhage is a 12-minute 1959 silent film that depicts his then-wife’s labor and delivery at home of one of their children. 7pm. Followed by a talk by Professor Shira Segal, the Director of Film Studies at UAlbany.

TALK: Kyra Gaunt @ Skidmore College’s Zankel Music Center, Saratoga Springs. The UAlbany professor explores the hidden musicianship in black girls’ musical play in the age of hip-hop, as well as the unintended consequences of race, gender, and technology in media from YouTube to Wikipedia. 7pm. $8; seniors $5; students & children FREE.
