MUSIC: Peter Rowan @ the Hangar on the Hudson, Troy. Grammy-award winner, six-time Grammy nominee, and 2015 IBMA Award winner for Recorded Event of the Year, Peter Rowan is a singer-songwriter with a career spanning over five decades from Bill Monroe’s Bluegrass Boys to Earth Opera to Seatrain to Old & In the Way to his own stellar solo recordings. 8pm. $20.

FILM/MUSIC: Silent Film Spectacular @ Albany Public Library Main Branch, Albany. The final night of the series featuring Local 518 musicians performing their live original scores to classic silents movies. Tonight Scum Couch plays live with the screening of three short surrealist films – “L’Etoile de Mer” (1928), “Le Retour a La Raison” (1923) and “Un Chien Andalou” (1929). 7pm. FREE.

STORYTELLING: On the Fly Story Slam @ Club Helsinki, Hudson. On the Fly stories are told, not read. No notes are allowed onstage. Storytellers are selected at random from those who sign up on the night of the story slam. Tonight’s theme is “spooky stories.” 6pm sign-up; 7pm show.
