COMIN’ SOON: New Concert Announcements

They were just at the Times Union Center in August as part of the ’80s throwback RetroFutura Tour, but now Modern English is returning to Greater Nippertown to melt with you at Albany’s Hollow Bar + Kitchen at 9pm on Thursday, November 9. Priced at $20 in advance; $23 at the door, tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday (October 6). The Veldt opens the show. The Hollow also welcomes the Eric Krasno Band on Friday, October 13. Hartley’s Encore opens the show at 9pm. Tickets are on sale now, priced at $15 in advance; $20 at the door. And Kansas City rock trio Hembree plays a free show at the Hollow at 8pm on Friday, November 10.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Bob Dylan and Mavis Staples are headed into the Palace Theatre in downtown Albany. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10am on Friday (October 6).

Maverick mandolin master Frank Wakefield leads his band into the Parting Glass in Saratoga Springs at 8pm on Saturday, November 4. Tickets are $15.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Comedian Kathleen Madigan will be bringing the laughs to The Egg in Albany. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 11am on Friday (October 6).

Echotest – featuring Crimson ProjeKCt/Adrian Belew bassist Julie Slick – make their Greater Nippertown debut at the Parish Public House in Albany at 8pm on Sunday (October 8) in support of their new album, From Two Balconies. Ampevene opens the show. Tickets are $8 in advance; $12 at the door. Also on tap at the Parish is the high-powered New Orleans horn band Bonerama, who will be blowing up a hot ‘n’ heavy Halloween show at 8pm on Tuesday, October 31. Tickets are $18 in advance; $22 at the door.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The G3 2018 Tour lands at the Palace Theatre featuring guitarslingers Joe Satriani, Dream Theater’s John Petrucci and Def Leppard’s Phil Collen, who will be crankin’ up their amps and spewin’ some fretboard fireworks. Also headed into the Palace is Led Zep tribute band Get the Led Out. Tickets for both shows go on sale to the general public at 10am on Friday (October 6).

Hosted by Kate Rigg, Weimar New York will take over Club Helsinki in Hudson at 8pm on Sunday, October 15 featuring downtown New York legend Phoebe Legere; opera singer-writer-actor-etc. Joseph Keckler; composer and “Negrogothic” performance artist M. Lamar; banjo-wielding force of nature Curtis Eller; multimedia artist Alexis O’Hara; burlesque performer Nada Phoenix Wood; and larger-than-life trans-genre performer Jordan Arsenault. Tickets are $25. Also upcoming at Club Helsinki, Elvis Perkins takes the stage at 9pm on Saturday, October 21. Tickets are $18.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Egg is gearing up for a pair of ace roots music concerts – Valerie June and Greensky Bluegrass. Tickets for both shows are now on sale.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Award-winning country music vocalist Lee Ann Womack will be making a tour stop at The Egg, too. Tickets are currently on sale.

Led by bassist John Lee, the Dizzy Gillespie Afro-Cuban Experience headline the Pittsfield CityJazz Festival with a concert at the Colonial Theatre at 7:30pm on Saturday, October 14. Tickets are $23 and $38.

Rhett Miller, the lead singer of the Old 97’s, is headed into Colony in Woodstock at 8pm on Sunday, December 17. Tickets are on sale now, priced at $20 in advance; $25 at the door.

In concert at the Senate Garage in Kingston at 7:30pm on Sunday (October 8), an all-star line-up of Hudson Valley jazz artists – including Teri Roiger, Judi Silvano, Jay Collins, Pete Levin, John Menegon and Jeff Siegel – pay tribute to the great Thelonious Monk on the 100th anniversary of his birth. Tickets are $20 and are available only in advance.

Canadian Celtic rockers Enter the Haggis are headed into Putnam Den in Saratoga Springs at 9pm on Saturday, December 9. Tickets are $15. Also at the Den, Everyone Orchestra – featuring Al Schnier, Vinnie Amico and Jim Loughlin of moe. – take over at 9pm on Saturday, November 4 ($17 in advance; $20 at the door), while Pigeons Playing Ping Pong and Flamingosis hit the stage at 9:30pm on Saturday, December 2 ($14 in advance; $17 at the door).

At Woodstock’s Bearsville Theater, Jackie Greene plays a solo concert at 9pm on Friday, December 1 ($25-$45), and the Murali Coryell Band plays a benefit for the Adopt-A-Future Education Program for Refugee Children at 7:30pm on Saturday, December 2 ($25 in advance; $30 at the door).

As part of the Jazz in Gtown concert series, trumpeter Ingrid Jensen brings her trio – also featuring Hammond B-3 organist Gary Versace and drummer Matt Wilson – to Clermont Vineyards & Winery in Germantown at 7pm on Saturday, October 21. Tickets are $25, which includes a complimentary glass of wine.

CANCELLED: We are bummed out. Lissie’s concert, originally slated for the Hollow Bar + Kitchen in Albany on Friday, October 27, has been cancelled… And “Love on the Floor” – the dance performance featuring Cheryl Burke, Meryl Davis & Charlie White that was originally slated for Sunday, November 12 at the Palace Theatre – has also been cancelled.

Hungrytown – the Vermont folk duo of Rebecca Hall and Ken Anderson – will play a free concert at the Waterford Community Center at 6:30pm on Thursday, October 26.

Eleanor Friedberger (formerly of the Fiery Furnaces) plays a solo show at The Beverly in Kingston on Friday, November 3. Chris Maxwell opens the show at 8pm. Tickets are $15.

Wild Adriatic and Iamdynamite team up at Jupiter Hall in Guilderland at 8pm on Saturday, November 18. Ticket info TBA.

Dave Matthews tribute band Big Eyed Phish played Albany’s Upper Room last weekend, but they’re returning for a show at the Saratoga Automobile Museum in Saratoga Springs at 7pm on Saturday, October 14. Also coming up at the SAM, Alta Havana spices it up at 7pm on Saturday, November 4. Priced at $25 in advance; $30 at the door, ticket sales for both shows will benefit the museum and the Universal Preservation Hall.

Almost Queen plays the Rivers Casino Event Center in Schenectady at 8pm Friday, October 20.

OPENERS: At the Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park, Ayron Jones opens for Theory of a Deadman on Saturday, October 14… At Colony in Woodstock, Lara Hope & the Ark-Tones open the show for Robert Gordon at 8pm on Saturday, November 18; and Nick Panken (of Spirit Family Reunion) has been tapped as the opening act for Ian Felice at 8pm on Friday, December 22… Opiuo and Muzzy Bearr will kick off the evening for GRiZ at the Palace Theatre on Sunday, November 5… Singer-songwriter Joe Pug opens for Elephant Revival at Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock on Saturday, November 11… Opening for Tim O’Brien at Club Helsinki in Hudson on Saturday, November 18 will be Amanda Anne Platt
