COMIN’ SOON: New Concert Announcements

In support of their latest album, Hot Thoughts, Spoon – Austin’s most esteemed ambassadors of rock – are slated to roll into the Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park on Tuesday, December 5, with White Reaper opening at 8pm. Tickets are $27.50 in advance; $30 at the door. And that’s not all that’s on tap at UCH… Veteran hip-hopsters The Lox take the stage on Saturday, October 21 with support from Westside Gunn & Conway and Smoke DZA at 8pm. Tickets are $25 in advance; $28 at the door. Country singer and “American Idol” alum Scotty McCreery steps into the spotlight at 8pm on Thursday, December 14 ($30 in advance; $33 at the door), and Clutch returns to Clifton Park on Wednesday, December 27 for a 7:30pm show with Devin Townsend Project, The Obsessed and Mike Westcott Band ($29.50 in advance; $32 at the door). Tickets for the newly announced shows go on sale at 10am on Friday (September 15).

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Four new concerts have been added to the calendar at The Egg in Albany – Rodrigo y Gabriela, Spyro Gyra, Five for Fighting and a free holiday concert by the Zucchini Brothers. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 11am on Friday (September 15).

Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs has a big batch of exciting new shows on its fall calendar, including the return of country hitmaker and Greenwich native Hal Ketchum for two shows (3 & 7pm) on Sunday, November 12. Tickets are on sale now, priced at $55 in advance; $57 at the door.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Miracle Legion’s Mark Mulcahy and Tim Reynolds’ TR3 have been added to the concert calendar at The Linda in Albany. Tickets are on sale now…

Down in Woodstock, Levon Helm Studios has added a couple of very buzz-worthy new shows. Rachael & Vilray – the ’30s & ’40s vintage pop ‘n’ swing duo featuring Lake Street Dive’s Rachael Price – slip into the spotlight at 8pm on Saturday, October 21. Tickets are $35 & $55. And sublime singer-songwriter and much-in-demand producer Joe Henry brings his band to Woodstock at 8pm on Saturday, December 9 in support of his 14th solo album, Thrum, slated for release next month. With special guest Rosie Cousins. Tickets are $20 & $35.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Three new shows announced for the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall – Israeli singer-songwriter Idan Raichel, acclaimed Celtic band Altan and the dynamic Indian duo of Zakir Hussain & Rakesh Chaurasia. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10am on Friday (September 15).

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: “The Daily Show” host Trevor Noah is bringing his stand-up comedy show to the Palace Theatre in Albany. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10am on Friday (September 15).

The Figgs’ Mike Gent is rolling into One Caroline Street Bistro in Saratoga Springs at 9pm on Friday & Saturday, September 22 & 23 for a pair of homecoming concerts to celebrate the release of his new album, Headphone Music. And he’s bringing along another of our fave Greater Nippertown ex-pats, John Powhida, to share the stage.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Amy Helm is kicking off the fall concert season at the College of St. Rose’s Massry Center in Albany.

Led by the acclaimed saxman, the Kenny Garrett Quintet – also featuring bassist Corcoran Holt, percussionist Rudy Bird, drummer Marcus Baylor and pianist Vernell Brown – plays a free concert at Williams College’s MainStage of the ‘62 Center for Theater and Dance in Williamstown at 8pm on Thursday, September 28.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: A Place for Jazz announced the fall schedule of concerts at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Schenectady’s Whisperdome, including upcoming concerts by the Chembo Corniel Quintet, the Jackie Ryan-Shelly Berg Duo, the Jeff Siegel Sextet and the Don Byron Quartet.

UPDATE: Magnetic Fields’ Stephin Merritt has been added to the line-up of performers for Wesley Stace’s Cabinet of Wonders benefit concert at Club Helsinki in Hudson on Wednesday, October 11, joining Charles Bock, Tracy Bonham, Juliana Hatfield, Dave Hill, Daniel Mendelsohn and Suzzy Roche.

Club Helsinki in Hudson has announced two new installments of the Rogovoy Salon – Taylor Mali at 7pm on Sunday, November 12 ($15) and Everton Sylvester & Searching for Banjo at 7pm on Sunday, December 3 ($15).

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Cohoes Music Hall announced a new concerts by the Ryan Montbleau Band. Tickets are on sale now.

Local 518 favorites the Burners UK are reuniting for a one-night-only benefit concert at Vapor in Saratoga Springs at 9pm on Friday, October 13. Tickets are $20, and a portion of proceeds will benefit To Life!

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Egg also added three more new shows – Kimock, Acoustic Alchemy and Yogapalooza with Bari Koral.

OPENERS: Belle Skinner has been tapped to open for Heather Maloney at The Linda on Saturday, September 23.
