MUSIC/FUNDRAISER: The National’s Guilty Party @ Basilica Hudson, Hudson. To celebrate the release of their new single “Guilty Party,” Brooklyn-based indie-rockers will throw an intimate, collaborative release party with Buke & Gase, Nadia Sirota, Mouse on Mars, Sō Percussion and others to benefit Basilica Hudson. 6pm. $50.

FESTIVAL/MUSIC: Schenectady SummerNight @ State Street, Schenectady. Three stages of music featuring Happy Daze (5:15pm), Lucy (5:30pm), Sonny & Perley (5:30pm), Up All Night (6:45pm), Stockade Kids (6:50pm), Element (7pm) and Blues Traveler (8:30pm). Followed by fireworks. FREE.

MUSIC: Triple Play @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. Three outstanding, versatile musicians – Peter Madcat Ruth (on harmonica, guitar, percussion & vocals), Joel Brown (acoustic guitar and vocals) and Chris Brubeck (electric bass, trombone, piano & vocals) – bring a rare level of virtuosity and American spirit to folk, blues, jazz and classical music. 8pm. $27.

MUSIC: The Deslondes @ Club Helsinki, Hudson. New Orleans-based roots-music outfit blends together influences from folk, rock ‘n’ roll, bluegrass, R&B, American roots music, blues, gospel, country and zydeco. THEATER: “The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds” @ Bridge Street Theatre, Catskill. A mother’s bitterness colors the lives of her two high school-aged daughters in Paul Zindel’s 1971 Pulitzer Prize-winning drama directed by Steven Patterson. 7:30pm. $25; $10 for students age 21 & under. DANCE: New York City Ballet @ Saratoga Performing Arts Center, Saratoga Springs. The company’s Saratoga summer residency continues with a Balanchine Short Stories program. 8pm. Pre-performance talk at 7pm.

THEATER: “The Holler Sessions” @ Ancram Opera House, Ancram. Written and performed by Frank Boyd, the play is staged as a live radio show, centering around one man’s burning obsession for American jazz. Ray, an explosive Kansas City DJ, broadcasts his love of jazz from his shoddy studio with an infectious passion for this uniquely American art form. 8pm. $25. Through July 23.

MUSIC: The Charlie Hunter Trio @ the Parish Public House, Albany. The seven-string jazz guitar great returns to the Parish with Carter McLean (drums) and Kirk Knuffke (coronet) in support of his new album, Everybody Has a Plan Until They Get Punched in the Mouth. 9pm. $20.
