Music Haven & Proctors Team Up for New Concert Series

“Traveling the world one concert at a time…”

That’s been the slogan for the free, annual, summertime concert series at the Music Haven in Schenectady’s Central Park since concert promoter Mona Golub launched it back in 1990.

Now in addition to the summer series, the Music Haven and Proctors are teaming up to keep the world-music flowing all year ’round with the new Passport Series of concerts.

The inaugural season features four concerts at Proctors’ GE Theatre beginning with the Venezuelan Afro-soul band Betsayda Machado Y Parranda El Clavo on Thursday, October 19.

Tickets are available now for $25 per concert, or you can purchase a Passport Series package with a ticket for all four concerts for as little as $75.

ALSARAH & THE NUBATONES

The Sudanese singer leads the East African retro-pop band from Brooklyn.

RANKY TANKY
Friday, February 9, 7:30pm
The South Carolina quintet has updated the Gullah tradition of the Georgia/Carolina sea islands with gospel vocals, jazz trumpet solos and an R&B rhythm section.

AFRICA UNPLUGGED
Friday, April 13, 7:30pm
The Passport Series wraps up with a double-bill featuring South African guitarist Derek Gripper and Mali’s Trio Da Kali.
