READING: “Selected Shorts” @ Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, Troy. Live onstage – one of NPR’s most popular programs. It’s an afternoon of short stories performed by host Sonia Manzano (“Sesame Street”), Michael Urie (“Ugly Betty”) and Jim True-Frost (“The Wire”) perform moving and comical stories about chance encounters, love, loss, and new beginnings all playing into the theme of “Lovers and Strangers.” 3pm. $25.

MUSIC: Sonny Ochs’ 80th Birthday Celebration @ the Eighth Step at Proctors’ GE Theatre, Schenectady. Performances by Emma’s Revolution, John Flynn, Greg Greenway, Kim & Reggie Harris, Joe Jencks, Sharon Katz, Magpie, David Roth, Nancy Tucker, Pat Wictor.
