COMEDY/FUNDRAISER: The Gender Defenders @ Proctors, Schenectady. Four stand-up comedians – Carmen Lynch, Louis Ramey, Brian Beaudoin and Liz Russo – discuss their unique views on relationships, love and life. Partial proceeds to benefit the Batchler siblings of Rotterdam – 19-year-old Jack and 11-year-old twins Abigail and Chloe – whose parents, Tim and Stephanie, were killed in a January 22 car accident. 8pm. $30.
THEATER: “Assisted Loving: Dating with My Dad” @ theREP, Albany. Gordon Greenberg directs the world premiere of New York Times writer Bob Morris’ poignant new comedy explores the world of contemporary digital dating later in life. 7:30pm. Through February 19.
READING: Shakespeare in Love @ Superior Merchandise, Troy. The Collar City Players present a romantic evening of beer-fueled, steamy Shakespearean sonnet readings by Evan Jones, Matt MacArevey and other surprise guests. 7pm. FREE.
MUSIC/FUNDRAISER: Hudson Soul Sessions #2 @ Club Helsinki, Hudson. The Hudson-based Sweet Life Music Project plays funky jazz with a blues-rock influence. With Albany-based Motown-style ensemble Derrick Horton & the Jay Street Band. A portion of the proceeds will help support local youth music programs. 7pm. $16; $49 dinner & show.
