Ribald songman John Valby (aka Dr. Dirty) returns to the stage at the Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park on Saturday, April 15. Don Jamieson opens the show at 8pm. Tickets are $15 in advance; $17 at the door. On the flipside, Christian rapper NF brings his Therapy Session Tour 2017 to UCH at 8pm on Wednesday, May 10. Tickets are $22 in advance; $25 at the door. Tickets for both shows go on sale at 10am on Friday (January 27).

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Tedeschi Trucks Band, the Wood Brothers and Hot Tuna roll into the Saratoga Performing Arts Center on the Wheels of Soul 2017 Tour. Tickets go on sale at 12noon on Friday (January 27).

G Jones headlines the bass culture bash Raging on the River at the River Street Pub in Troy at 5pm on Sunday, January 29. With Yheti, the Widdler, Eastghost, Evac Protocol and DJ Knowledge. Tickets are $25 & $40.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio returns to the stage of the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall for a solo acoustic concert. Tickets go on sale at 12noon on Friday (January 27).

Among the new shows announced for the Hollow Bar + Kitchen in Albany are the Big Mean Sound Machine with Hartley’s Encore at 9:30pm on Friday, February 10 ($12 in advance; $15 at the door); Reed Mathis & Electric Beethoven at 9:30pm on Saturday, February 18 ($15 in advance; $20 at the door); Shwizz with Cousin Earth and Capital Zen at 9pm Friday, February 24 ($12 in advance; $15 at the door); John Brown’s Body with Dr. Jah & the Love Prophets at 9:30pm on Friday, March 24 ($15 in advance; $18 at the door); and Ne-Hi at 9pm on Tuesday, April 4 ($10 in advance; $12 at the door).

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: British art-rockers The 1975 are headed into the Glens Falls Civic Center in support of their latest album, I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10am on Friday (January 27).

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Country music superstar Luke Bryan – yes, he’ll be singing the national anthem at the Super Bowl – is coming back to Saratoga Performing Arts Center this summer, sharing the stage with Brett Eldredge.

The Sand Lake Center for the Arts in Averill Park has added a handfull of new concerts to the calendar, including an SLCA benefit concert featuring Dan Berggren and Chris Shaw at 8pm on Saturday, February 11 ($20); mountain dulcimer master Dan Evans at 8pm on Saturday, March 11 ($18; $10 under age 18); and the dynamic Americana duo of Richie Stearns and Rosie Newton at 8pm on Saturday, April 22 ($18; $10 under age 18).

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Timothy B. Schmit brings his band to the Cohoes Music Hall, singing songs from his stints in the Eagles and Poco, as well as his solo career. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 101m on Friday (January 27).

Proctors in Schenectady hosts the Gender Defenders – stand-up comedians Carmen Lynch, Louis Ramey, Brian Beaudoin and Liz Russo – for a special Valentine’s Day show at 8pm on Tuesday, February 14. Tickets are on sale now, priced at $25 in advance; $30 at the door.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The popular podcast “Welcome to Night Vale” is headed into The Egg for a live show featuring Cecil Baldwin with live music by Dispatition and very special guest singer-songwriter Erin McKeown as “The Weather.”
