Of all the amazing concerts that I’ve been to locally (mostly the Egg) over the past few years, I’ve not been to any of the above….so much to choose from…why these???

  2. Greg says:

    Suzanne,

The key phrase here is “on this date.” These are all concerts/club shows that took place on today’s date (January 12) on various years…

2014: Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue @ The Egg, Albany–One of the best shows I have ever been to at The Egg. Hope they’re back this year.

1992: Satan & Adams, Backdoor Benny @ Cafe Lena, Saratoga Springs–Actually, this should read Satan and Adam. I saw this blues duo many times and never was short of amazed. Easily one of my favorite bands of all time.

  5. Greg says:

    Fred,

Sorry ’bout that Adams/Adam typo. I’ve corrected it. Wonder whatever happened to them? They played around here quite a bit for a while and then disappeared…

  6. Fred says:

    Greg:

Adam’s a literature professor and author down in Mississippi, but still plays out occasionally and posts blues harp instruction videos. Sterling aka Mr. Satan, last I heard, was playing occasionally in the South after some tough years of health crises. The duo occasionally reunite, and I think there was talk of a full documentary film a few years ago. Seeing them play till 2am at The Metro a couple of times a year remains indelible in my memory, and they were two of the nicest guys you’d ever meet. Sterling’s an accomplished folk artist, by the way.
