MUSIC: Alejandro Escovedo & the Burn Something Beautiful Band @ Club Helsinki, Hudson. In support of his killer new album, Burn Something Beautiful, the acclaimed Texas rocker/troubadour brings an all-star band, featuring Peter Buck of R.E.M., Scott McCaughey of Young Fresh Fellows, Kurt Block of Fastbacks and Linda Pitmon of the Baseball Project. Opening the evening is the indie-rock supergroup the Minus 5, the personnel of which bears a remarkable resemblance to the Burn Something Beautiful Band. 8pm. $25 & $30.

COMEDY: Mike Birbiglia @ Funny Bone, Guilderland. The stand-up comedian rolls into town to try out some new material with “Working It Out.” 7:30 & 10pm. $25. UPDATE: The 7pm show is now officially sold out… Also at 7 & 9:45pm Saturday.
