COMIN’ SOON: New Concert Announcements

Rubblebucket – who made quite an impression as the opening act for Lake Street Dive at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall in October – return to their club headlining status as they funk up Albany’s Hollow Bar + Kitchen on Thursday, January 26. Sam Evian kicks off the evening at 9:30pm. Tickets are $15 in advance; $18 at the door.

Following the death of Buckwheat Zydeco, the double bill concert of Buckwheat and Gulf Coast boogie woogie piano-pounder Marcia Ball that was originally slated for Friday, February 17 at The Egg was cancelled. But Albany Marcia Ball fans are in luck. The Upper Room in downtown Albany has announced that she’ll step into the spotlight at 8pm on Thursday, February 16. Tickets are on sale now priced at $25 & 435.

Either way, The Egg in Albany has you covered with the First Night of Funny – two stand-up comedy shows on the same night featuring the same four comedians – Kelly MacFarland, Steve Caouette, Joe Bronzi and Jaye McBride. Tickets are on sale now.

LoCash – the contemporary country duo of Preston Brust and Chris Lucas – made a big splash at Alive at Five this summer, and now they’re headed back to Greater Nippertown for a concert at Vapor in Saratoga Springs at 9pm on Thursday, February 16. Doors open at 7pm for Kevin Richards’ Pre-Party. Tickets are $20.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Stand-up comedian/singer-songwriter Stephen Lynch is scheduled for a return to The Egg as part of his My Old Heart Tour. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday (December 2).

The Half Moon in Hudson will be ringing in the new year with a benefit performance by Bobby Previte’s Half Moon All Stars featuring vocalist Gwen Siegal Snyder, guitarist Mike Gamble, violinist-keyboardist Jonathan Talbott and bassist John Rosenthal in addition to Previte on drums. The show takes place at 10pm on Saturday, December 31, and admission is $10, which will benefit community radio station WGXC.

Reggae Queen Marcia Griffiths – formerly of the legendary I-Threes – headlines the “Holiday Reggae Show” along with the Big Takeover at the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock at 9pm on Saturday, December 17. Tickets are $35 in advance; $40 at the door.

New additions to the concert calendar at the Iron Horse Music Hall in Northampton include Rose Cousins with Lula Wiles at 7pm on Sunday, February 26 ($15 in advance; $20 at the door); Richard Shindell at 7pm on Friday, March 31 ($25 in advance; $30 at the door); James McCartney at 7pm on Friday, April 7 ($15 in advance; $20 at the door); and Melissa Ferrick at 7pm on Saturday, April 22 ($22.50 in advance; $25 at the door).

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Sick Shit Fest takes over the Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park this weekend. The day-long headbangin’ festival is led by headliners Internal Bleeding, but the cavalcade of mosh-pit-inducing combos also includes Dehumanized, Gunther Weezul, Dissolve, Hammer Fight, TON, Begat the Nephilim, Assault on the Living, the Killing Condition, Incontinence, Disguise the Curse, Foaming at the Mouth, Before the Judge, Calamity and Apastron.

The Clark Art Institute kicks off Williamstown’s Holiday Walk weekend with a festive concert featuring Latin Grammy Award-winning children’s music artist Mister G at 6:30pm on Friday (December 2). He’ll perform holiday classics along with his original songs. Tickets are $25; $10 children.

Amy Helm & the Handsome Strangers will play the New Year’s Eve concert at Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock. The show kicks off at 9pm on Saturday, December 31, and tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday (December 2), priced at $55 & $75.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Casting Crowns will be headlining a Contemporary Christian music concert at the Glens Falls Civic Center. Support acts include Unspoken and Danny Gokey. Tickets are slated to go on sale to the general public at 10am on Friday, December 9.

SOLD OUT: Two upcoming shows at Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock are now officially sold out – Jorma Kaukonen on Friday (December 2) and “The Sounding Joy,” Elizabeth Mitchell’s Christmas concert on Saturday, December 10.
