MUSIC: Jlin and Qrion @ EMPAC at RPI, Troy. Electronic beats from opposite sides of the globe. While their personal geographies and artistic methods place them worlds apart, Jlin and Qrion each create dance music perfectly suited to the contemporary moment, when regional flavors and the tension between sampled material and self-composed sounds are finding common other-worldly ground. 9pm. $18; $13 students & seniors.

MUSIC: Garnet Rogers @ Caffe Lena at Universal Preservation Hall, Saratoga Springs. After being turned away at the border postponing his concert originally scheduled for July, the Canadian troubadour finally arrives at the Caffe in support of his new book, “Night Drive: travels With My Brother.” 8pm. $24.

MUSIC: Scott Sharrard @ the Cock ‘n Bull, Galway. Gregg Allman’s concert at the Times Union Center was cancelled due to unexpected health problems, but two of his bandmates are gracing Greater Nippertown stages tonight. The Gregg Allman Band’s blues-rockin’ guitarslinger Scott Sharrard rips it up in Galway. 8:30pm. $20.

MUSIC: The Bruce Katz Band @ Club Helsinki, Hudson. The Gregg Allman Band’s keyboardist Bruce Katz takes the stage in Hudson for an evening of organ-drenched blues-rock, celebrating the release of his new CD, Out from the Center. Featuring vocalist-guitarist Chris Vitarello. 9pm. $20.

MUSIC/MORE: “Dear America: History Meets Hip-Hop” @ Skidmore College’s Tang Museum, Saratoga Springs. Arts Fest Fridays presents an evening of eclectic historic- and election-themed entertainment including vintage campaign songs from musician/artist Brian Dewan, hip-hop poets and performers from Saratoga Springs High School and Skidmore College (Scrambled, Niko and Cryptic) and historic re-enactors from across Greater Nippertown. 5pm.
