COMIN’ SOON: New Concert Announcements

The Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park has a real headbanger in store for you with the double-bill of Hellyeah and In Flames on Friday, November 18. Support acts From Ashes to New and Source kick off the evening at 7pm. Tickets are $27 in advance; $30 at the door. Also on tap at UCH is the double-barrel tribute band concert with Strangelove: The Depeche Mode Experience and Electric Duke: Tribute to David Bowie sharng the stage at 8:30pm on Friday, December 16. Tickets are $15 in advance; $20 at the door.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Troy Savings Bank Music Hall announced eight new concerts, including the Wailin’ Jennys, Dave Douglas & Frank Woeste, Lunasa, the Kingston Trio, San Fermin & the NOW Ensemble, 1964: The Tribute and more. Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday (October 21).

New shows added to the calendar at the Calvin Theatre in Northampton include jam band heroes moe. at 8pm on Saturday, February 4 ($26.50 & $36.50) and The Zombies – nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame earlier this week – at 8pm on Friday, March 31 ($35, $49.50 & $65; on sale Friday).

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Yeah, in case you didn’t get the hint that we threw ya last week amidst the Kanye West/Times Union Center condundrum, well… Yes, Kanye West is comin’ to downtown Albany’s Times Union Center – just not on the date that everyone in the media originally jumped on… Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10am on Saturday (October 22).

You know him best as the lead singer of Anthrax, but when his side-project band Chief Big Way lands at Chrome in Waterford at 8pm on Saturday, December 3, Joey Belladonna will not only be the lead singer, but he’ll also be the drummer. Tickets are $10 in advance; $15 at the door. Also coming up at Chrome at 8pm on Friday, December 16 is Tony Harnell of TNT with Hairband Riot and Moriah Formica opening. Tickets are $10 in advance; $15 at the door.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Blues-rocker Beth Hart will be returning to The Egg in support of her upcoming album, Fire on the Floor. Tickets go on sale at 11am on Friday (October 21).

Rochester indie rockers Maybird were in Albany just last month for the wailin’ PearlPalooza street festival, but they’re already planning their return trip to town – a gig at Lucky Strike Social’s Jupiter Hall in Guilderland on Friday, November 18.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Palace Theatre announced that jam band faves Umphrey’s McGee are slated to return to the downtown Albany theatre – this time with special guest saxman Joshua Redman and opening band Spafford. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 11am on Friday (October 21).

Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock have added a handful of new concerts to the calendar, including Chris Stills at 8pm on Saturday, October 22 ($20); a benefit concert for the Woodstock Library featuring Tracy Bonham at 8pm on Friday, November 11 ($25 & $35); and a benefit concert for the Onteora High School Music Program featuring Blue Chicken at 8pm on Friday, November 18 ($35). Also, tickets go on sale at 12noon on Friday (October 21) for the concert by Chadwick Stokes (of Dispatch and State Radio) on Saturday, December 17. Tickets are priced at $31 & $46.

Tribute band Almost Queen is slated to take the stage at the Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield at 8pm on Saturday, November 19. Tickets are priced at $22, $35 & $39.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Celtic music favorites Gaelic Storm are headed for a return trip to The Egg. Tickets go on sale at 11am on Friday (October 21).

Professor Louie & the Crowmatix will be joined by the Woodstock Horns to celebrate the birthday and the music of the late Rick Danko at the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock at 8:30pm on Thursday, December 29. Tickets are $15 in advance; $20 at the door.

NYC street jazz combo Baby Soda lands at Club Helsinki in Hudson at 9pm on Friday, November 11 ($15), while Nippertown’s own rockabilly kingpins the Lustre Kings step into the spotlight at 9pm on Friday, November 18 ($15), and the Simi Stone Band returns at 9pm on Saturday, November 26 ($18).
