MUSIC: Lucius @ the Academy of Music, Northampton. With JD McPherson opening the show, this just might be the best double-bill of the year. 7:30pm. $25.

ART RECEPTION: “Charles Steckler: Contrary to What Sometimes Happens” @ Union College’s Mandeville Gallery at the Nott Memorial, Schenectady. A reception for the exhibition of more than 30 works created “out of the throwaway artifacts of our material culture.” 5-6:30pm. FREE. Exhibition runs through Sunday, December 11.

COMEDY: Joe List @ The Garage, Pittsfield. He was hailed by The Boston Globe as the “most talented” and “the city’s freshest new comedian” in 2005. And he was a semi-finalist on NBC-TV’s “Last Comic Standing” in 2010. 8pm. $15.

MUSIC: Ziggy Marley @ the Calvin Theatre, Northampton. The seven-time Grammy Award winner, Emmy Award winner, humanitarian, singer, songwriter and producer has released 12 albums to critical acclaim. 8pm. $30.50 & $40.50.

THEATER: “American Son” @ Barrington Stage Co., Pittsfield. Christopher Demos-Brown’s explosive, award-winning drama examines our nation’s racial divide through the eyes of an estranged, interracial couple.
