FEST: Irish 2000 Music & Arts Festival in Ballston Spa This Weekend

September 12th, 2016, 1:00 pm by Greg

The annual Irish 2000 Music & Arts Festival is Greater Nippertown’s biggest Celtic music event this side of St. Patrick’s Day. In fact, it’s one of the top five Irish music fests in the entire United States.

This weekend, the fest is returning to the Saratoga County Fairgrounds in Ballston Spa to celebrate its 20th anniversary with a line-up of more than 20 Celtic music performers, spanning musical genres from rock to folk and beyond.

The Irish 2000 Fest kicks off at 5:45pm on Friday (September 16) with a four-band line-up featuring the Druids, the Peelers, Screaming Orphans and headliners Gaelic Storm.

On Saturday (September 17), the fest shifts into high gear with three stages worth of music running all day long, beginning at 12noon. In addition to the many band and dance schools who will be performing throughout the day, Steve Gray, Three Irish Voices and others will pay special tribute to Irish songman and festival stalwart Frank Jaklitsch, who passed away unexpectedly last month.

Friday only tickets are $16 in advance; $20 at the gate. Saturday only tickets are $18 in advance; $25 at the gate. Two-day all-festival passes are $29 in advance only. Children age 12 and under are free.
