FEST: Bluesfest 2016 in Schaghticoke on Saturday

Bluesfest 2016 is taking over the rustic Prospectors Restaurant in Schaghticoke on Saturday (September 10), featuring five of Greater Nippertown’s top homegrown blues bands. Doors open at 12noon, and the music starts crankin’ at 1pm. Admission is $20; $30 per couple; free for kids age 15 and under.

In addition to the great music, Bluesfest 2016 will feature a 50/50 and raffle to benefit the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, with more than 25 great prizes.

Here’s the complete schedule for BluesFest 2016:

1pm: JOE MELE BAND
Led by legendary Troy guitarist Joe Mele, the band also features singer Gary Brooks, drummer Leo Kachidurian and bass player Ed Tourge. In Mele’s nearly 40 years of performing, he has shared the stage with such acclaimed artists as B.B. King, Aretha Franklin, Junior Wells, Warren Haynes, Dickey Betts, James Cotton, Savoy Brown, Joan Osborne, NRBQ and many more.

2:30pm: AVERAGE BEAR
Feauturing super saxman Luke McNamee with Mike McMann on guitars and vocals, Jim Capella on bass and Jason Maloney on drums. McNamee’s rich resume includes a stint with the Cobras (one of Stevie Ray Vaughan’s early bands), worldwide touring with Roomfull of Blues and Austin favorites the Cornell Hurd Band.

4pm: THE MIDNIGHT RIDERS
Playing the classic southern blues-rock of the Allman Brothers Band, the Midnight Riders are a Local 518 supergroup of their own, featuring the vocal prowess of Mike Iwanos, keyboardist Drew Costa and the members of Greater Nippertown’s premier power trio Super 400 (Joe Daley on drums, Lori Friday on bass and Kenny Hohman on guitar).

5:30pm: THE GEORGE BOONE BLUES BAND
Whether he’s singing or playing guitar, George Boone’s music is brimming over with raw emotion. The veteran bluesman has graced stages throughout the U.S, Japan and Europe, playing international blues festivals, concert halls and clubs. With five-string bassist Raoul Bowman.

7pm: SOUL SKY
Dynamic, bluesy, jammy and definitely rockin’, Soul Sky is fueled by the twin guitars of Mark Emanatian and Jeremy Walz soaring over the solid foundation of the rhythm section of bassist Tom Dolan and drummer Josh Bloomfield. Together they combine great original material with unique versions of classic blues, Delta blues, Chicago blues and an eclectic array of rock and soul nuggets.
