Due to serious health issues, Gregg Allman has cancelled the first leg of his upcoming tour, including his co-headline show with ZZ Top, which was scheduled for Albany’s Times Union Center on Wednesday, August 24.

Allman is currently under his doctor’s care at the Mayo Clinic.

“I want to thank my fans and friends for supporting me while I rest up and focus on getting better and back on the road as soon as I can,” Allman said. “I’ve been working hard with my band, my pride and joy, to play our music for everyone. We’ll see y’all in October.” Allman’s first show back is scheduled to be a performance at his own Laid Back Festival at the Lakewood Amphitheatre in Atlanta on Saturday, October 29.

There’s been no word yet from the Times Union Center, but on Saturday (August 6), ZZ Top posted on their Facebook page: “We are disappointed that Gregg Allman’s health precludes his touring with us. We wish our friend a speedy recovery. Notwithstanding, our fall tour dates will go on as planned and expect to give you an update on these in the very near future. Stay tuned!”
