Things continue to heat up at Club Helsinki in Hudson with the new addition of Ian Hunter & the Rant Band at 9pm on Friday, September 30 ($45 & $65). Also new on Helsinki’s concert calendar are the Ballroom Thieves at 9pm on Saturday, December 17 ($12 in advance; $15 at the door).

Violin virtuoso Joshua Bell teams up with pianist Alessio Bax at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center in Great Barrington at 8pm on Friday, October 28 for a fundraising concert to benefit the Mahaiwe’s year-round arts and education programs. Priced at $65-$250, tickets go on sale to Mahaiwe members at 12noon on Thursday (August 4) and to the general public at 12noon on Wednesday, August 10.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Big Bad Voodoo Daddy is gearing up to swing into the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10am on Friday (August 5).

Rockabilly Hall of Famers Big Sandy & His Fly-Rite Boys are headed back to the Iron Horse Music Hall in Northampton at 7pm on Monday, November 7. Tickets are on sale now priced at $15 in advance; $18 at the door.

“Saturday Night Live” alum Tim Meadows brings his stand-up comedy to the Comedy Works in Saratoga Springs at 8pm on Thursday, October 20 ($10); 8pm on Friday, October 21 and 7:30 & 9:30pm on Saturday, October 22 ($25 in advance; $30 at the door).

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Jazz guitar great Pat Metheny and his band – featuring drummer Antonio Sanchez, bassist Linda Oh and British pianist Gwilym Simcock – are headed into The Egg’s Hart Theatre. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 11am on Friday (August 5).

Few are more conscious and intentional in their journey through Appalachian histories and musical treasures than 22-year-old Kaia Kater, who makes her Greater Nippertown debut at The Linda in Albany at 8pm on Friday, October 7 in support of her newly released sophomore album, Nine Pin. Born in Quebec of mixed Afro-Caribbean ancestry, she now resides in Toronto and spends extensive time in West Virginia, where she studies balladry and traditional dance. Host Michael Eck opens the show. Tickets are $20.

She has toured as a singer with such greats as the Rolling Stones, Sting and Tina Turner. She starred in the 2013 Grammy and Academy Award-winning film “20 Feet from Stardom.” And now Lisa Fischer will perform with her band Grand Baton at the Calvin Theatre in Northampton at 8pm on Friday, March 24. Tickets are on sale now, priced at $39.50 & $49.50.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Sublime jazz violinist Regina Carter and her exceptionally versatile band returns to The Egg in Albany – this time paying tribute to the music of Ella Fitzgerald.

The Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park will host two nights of the Building for the Stars Charity Concert at 7pm on Wednesday & Thursday, August 17 & 18. Featured performers include Duo Explosion with Vinny Saj & Courtney Heinze; True Grit Outlaws; Ophelia Grey; and Drake Bell. On sale now, tickets are $30 per night; $40 VIP. Also headbangers Atilla bring the Chaos Tour to UCH at 7:30pm on Thursday, October 20. Priced at $18 in advance; $20 at the door, tickets go on sale to the general public at 10am on Friday (August 5).

Dangermuffin is headed back to downtown Albany for a return engagement at the Parish Public House at 8pm on Thursday, August 25. Tickets are $10 in advance; $15 at the door.

Jimkata is slated for a return to the Hollow Bar + Kitchen in Albany on Saturday, October 8. Further details TBA…

The Weight return to Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock at 8pm on Saturday, September 24. Tickets are on sale now priced at $45 & $65.
