  1. Stanley Johnson says:

I remember Maria Muldaur not being very happy with having her picture taken that night in Central Park. But she didn’t start complaining about it until after this shot was taken and then I stopped.
Also, the Ringo show at the Starlite did not include Alvin Lee but rather Mark Farner, John Entwistle, and Ringo’s son Zach. I don’t remember Clemmons, Lofgrin or Preston there either, although they did play with Ringo at SPAC. The Starlite show was in the round on a revolving stage, so I got to sit right behind Ringo and watch his drumming close up for a few songs. Amazing.

    Stanley,

I believe that you’re correct about the Ringo show at the Starlite. I was working from an ad for the concert, which included Lee, Lofgrin and Clemmons, although they dropped out of the band prior to the start of the tour. I believe that Preston was scheduled to play, but I can’t find a review, so I’m not sure if he did. Anybody else recall whether he played or not? Was saxman Mark Rivera in the band as well?

I do recall that Ringo & Co. were originally slated to play two shows that night, but the early show (6pm) was cancelled, and only the 9:30pm show went on as scheduled…

    Greg
