SPAC Jazz Fest – Chaka Khan’s Out; Isley Brothers Are In

June 16th, 2016, 9:30 am by Greg

Chaka Khan, who was scheduled to headline the opening night of Freihofer’s Saratoga Jazz Festival at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center – has cancelled her appearance due to health issues. Although sidelined this year by a throat infection that requires vocal rest to heal, Khan has committed to perform at SPAC for the 2017 jazz fest.

“I am so sorry about having to postpone this date and even sorrier to disappoint my fans. My doctor has advised total rest to avoid damage to my vocal cords. Due to this situation, all engagements for June are being cancelled or postponed. I appreciate your support and understanding and look forward to seeing you next summer,” said Khan.

Stepping in to fill the vacant headlining slot at 9pm on Saturday, June 25 will be the Isley Brothers, the veteran R&B band that began performing in the 1950’s and racked up such timeless hits as “Shout,” “Twist and Shout,” “Who’s That Lady?” and “It’s Your Thing.” The band is led by founding member Ronald Isley and guitarist Ernie Isley.
