Singer-songwriter and true maverick Amanda Palmer is taking her father on the road, and they’re headed to Basilica Hudson on Saturday, July 23. “An Evening with Jack & Amanda Palmer” will feature the father-and-daughter duo performing a set of covers from their new release, You Got Me Singing. Percussive polymath Thor Harris (of Swans) and his group Thor & Friends open the show. Doors open at 7pm. Tickets are on sale now priced at $15 in advance; $20 at the door.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The schedule of bands has been announced for the Empire State Plaza’s annual free Wednesday night concert series, and it includes Shooter Jennings Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears, Blood Sweat & Tears, Cyrus Chestnut, Sonny Knight & the Lakers, Beres Hammond, Bo Bice, Rachelle Ferrell, Devon Allman, the Mallett Brothers and more.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Bands have been announced for the upcoming Art On Lark festival in Albany include Walking X-Ray, Coupons, Jouska, Slowshine, Hospital Corners, Bare Mattress, Neighborhood of Make Believe and Cannon the Brave. Admission is free.

Bonnie “Prince” Billy (aka Will Oldham) returns to Hudson for a performance at the Half Moon at 8pm on Tuesday, June 21. He’ll be joined by Bitchin’ Bajas and Highlife. Tickets are on sale now priced at $15.

CANCELLED: Sad news to report. The Beacon Jazz Festival, which was slated to take place at Seeger Riverfront Park in Beacon on Saturday, June 25, has been cancelled. The Sun Ra Arkestra had been slated to headline.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The City of Albany’s second annual Dad Fest has been relocated to Washington Park, featuring performances by Southside Johnny & the Poor Fools, Bryan Thomas and the Bondville Boys. Admission is free.

He’s written hits for Maroon 5 and Justin Beiber. He racked up a smash hit of his own with “I Took a Pill in Ibiza.” Now Mike Posner is slated to take the stage at the Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park at 7:30pm on Sunday, July 10. Tickets are on sale now,, priced at $20 in advance; $23 at the door.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Veteran Irish singers Maura O’Connell and Karan Casey are teaming up for a concert at The Egg in Albany. Priced at $34, tickets are now on sale.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The upcoming Troy River Fest has announced the line-up of bands, including Steve Candlen, Off the Record, Jimi Graham & the Holy Trinity, Gang of Thieves, Lost Radio Rounders and Troy Samba. Admission is free.

A couple of new concerts have been announced for Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock, including Jackie Greene at 8pm on Saturday, July 23 ($45 & $65) and the Wood Brothers at 8pm on Friday, August 19 ($35 & $45).

OPENERS: Fab fiddler Alex Hargreaves will team up with Grant Gordy as the opening act for the multi-talented Tim O’Brien at Club Helsinki in Hudson on Saturday, June 11… Fantastic Negrito – whose highly anticipated debut album, The Last Days of Oakland, is slated for release on Friday – has been added as the opening act for Chris Cornell’s Higher Truth tour date at the Palace Theatre on Friday, July 1… Darlingside will warm up the crowd for Josh Ritter & the Royal City Band’s concert at The Egg on Friday, July 22.

Led by Bobby Previte, drummer extraordinaire, the Voodoo Orchestra North returns to Club Helsinki in Hudson this summer for a series of performances exploring the music of Miles Davis’ classic Bitches Brew. Shows take place at 8pm on Mondays, June 27; July 18, August 8 and August 22. Tickets are $10.
