MUSIC: Lonesome Val & the Toddfellows Society @ The Hangar on the Hudson, Troy. You may remember her from her days as the frontwoman of legendary Albany band, the Units/Fear of Strangers. Or maybe from her exquisite solo albums on the Bar/None label. Or perhaps from her recent (and all too brief) appearances at the Hangar for “Sirens of Song” and the Merle Haggard tribute “Down Every Road.” Now she’s back for a long awaited full evening backed by her old FoS bandmates Todd Nelson and Al Kash, as well as special guests Kevin Maul, Kyle Esposito and Julia Nichols. 8pm.

MUSIC: Sultans of String @ the Eighth Step at Proctors’ Fenimore Gallery, Schenectady. The Canadian award-winning genre-hoppers serve up Celtic reels, flamenco, Gypsy jazz, Arabic and South Asian rhythms, as well as fiery violin, guitar and sitar. THEATER: Gidion’s Knot @ Bridge Street Theatre, Catskill. Directed by John Sowle, Johnna Adams’ play is a shattering contemporary drama about bullying, freedom of expression, and the ever-present threat of violence in our schools. 7:30pm. $20; $10 age 21 and under. Through Sunday, May 22.

PERFORMANCE: “The Round” @ MASS MoCA, North Adams. French duo Projet In Situ, created by choreographers Martin Chaput and Martial Chazallon, presents an experimental, site-specific work combining movement, technology, participatory theater and sound installation. Each audience member receives earbuds to use with cell phones, to listen to audio recordings that uncover a choreographed journey through MASS MoCA. Departures take place every 15 minutes between 4-8:45pm. The performance is approximately 70 minutes long. $10.

THEATER: “Presto Change-O” @ Barrington Stage Company’s St. Germain Stage, Pittsfield. It’s opening night! The new musical by Eric Price and Joel Waggoner tells the story of three generations of magicians who find themselves under one roof for the first time in years.
