New Pearl Street Concert Venue Opens Thursday

Everything old is new again…

The building that formerly housed Jillian’s on North Pearl Street in downtown Albany is about to re-open as a new concert venue, the Upper Room, owned by business partners Chris Pratt and Alessio Depoli. Actually, the street-level space where Jillian’s hosted bands is now the new location of the Pearl Street Pub, which has moved across the street. The soft opening for the pub is today (Tuesday, May 17).

And, as you may have guessed from its name, the Upper Room is located on the second floor of the building. Described as “a unique lounge experience” on its Facebook page, the Upper Room had its soft opening/big reveal last Saturday night (May 14), but it makes its live music debut on Thursday (May 19) with a triple-bill.

Headlining the evening, Brooklyn-based “cosmic rock” trio Dreamers are slated to give the room its live music debut on Thursday in support of their new EP, You Are Here, featuring the single, “Drugs” (see video above). The Young Wild and AudioDamn! are scheduled to open the show, which is listed with an 8pm showtime.

Tickets are $10.27 in advance (yes, it’s a WEQX-FM-sponsored show); $15 at the door.

The Upper Room is expected to host its official grand opening with a big bash on Thursday, June 9. Stay tuned for details…

Wow, this band is truly awful. What a bunch of contrived garbage.
