MUSIC: The Waifs @ Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, Troy. All the way from Albany (in western Australia, that is), the fab, rootsy folk-pop quintet is led by Donna Simpson (vocals, guitar), Josh Cunningham (vocals, guitar, banjo, ukulele) and Vikki Thorn (vocals, guitar, harmonica) in support of their seventh studio album, Beautiful You. 8pm. $29.

FESTIVAL/MUSIC: Albany Tulip Festival @ Washington Park, Albany. Day One of Greater Nippertown’s annual launch of the outdoor music season. Lots of craft vendors, food trucks, people watching and, of course, bright, colorful tulips. MUSIC: The English Beat @ The Egg’s Swyer Theatre, Albany. The English Beat famously fused ska with pop, soul, reggae and punk rock in the 1980s. The band is led by founding member and consummate showman Dave Wakeling on guitar and lead vocals. 8pm. $34.

MUSIC: Robbie Fulks and his Band @ The Hangar on the Hudson, Troy. Robbie plays by nobody’s rules -except the ones he hears in his head. He is prodigiously talented, with the soul of a country singer and the mind of a vaudevillian. Besides, his scorn for the music industry makes ours look positively prosaic. MUSIC: Allison Miller’s Boom Tic Boom @ MASS MoCA’s Club B-10, North Adams. The versatile drummer brings her all-star jazz band – including violinist Jenny Scheinman, bassist Todd Sickafoose, pianist Myra Melford and horns – to town in support of their new album, Otis Was a Polar Bear. MUSIC: Vetiver @ Club Helsinki, Hudson. The San Francisco-based nom-de-bande of folk-rock singer-songwriter Andy Cabic brings their dreamy pop sounds to town. Years ago, Vetiver might have drawn comparisons to Neil Young’s acoustic efforts or perhaps the Byrds. These days, musical signifiers include Real Estate, Devendra Banhart, and Phosphorescent. 9pm. $18.

MUSIC: Paul Green & Klezmer East @ Spencertown Academy Arts Center, Spencertown. The concert spotlights traditional and contemporary klezmer favorites, including freilachs, horas and hits from the Yiddish Theater. Led by clarinetist Green, the band also features Pete Sweeney (drums), Bruce Krasin (saxophone) and Alan Gold (keyboards). 8pm. $20; $10 students.

MUSIC: The Bernstein Bard Trio @ Sand Lake Center for the Arts, Averill Park. Tonight the trio expands to a quartet with the ever-popular Uduboy of Music himself, Brian Melick adding his stylish drumming and percussion. 8pm. $18; $10 under age 18.

THEATER: “A Trip to Bountiful” @ Capital Repertory Theatre, Albany. Join the inspiring pilgrimage to the small town of Bountiful, Texas with Carrie Watts, the charming, aging widow who escapes her controlling daughter-in-law and son’s three-room Houston apartment to visit her childhood home one last time. 3 & 8pm. $20-$55.     Regarding the bands tonight at The Dino BBQ a, it’s Sub Slab followed by Restless Widow! Come out and support local 518 musicians! No cover! bring your Mom!
