FESTIVAL: Caffe Lena’s Folkathon Returns This Weekend

April 26th, 2016, 12:00 pm by Greg

42 hours…
40+ bands…
Three days…
One last song on the old stage…

The historic home of Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs is about to undergo a major renovation this summer – starting Monday, June 6, to be precise. But before the transformation, manager Sarah Craig and the other fine folks keeping the coffeehouse alive have designated the last weekend of April for a giant-size farewell to the “old” Caffe, and a celebration of the spirited community that will sustain the revitalized Lena into the coming decades.

In celebration, the Caffe has revived the Folkathon, a weekend-long Caffe tradition during the ’90s, and invited dozens of top headliners – a parade of both Local 518 and national folk faves – to come play one last time in the old Caffe. The festivities start at 6pm on Friday (April 29) and, with just a couple modest breaks tucked into the early morning hours, will go virtually non-stop until 10pm on Sunday (May 1).

Come for the whole weekend, or for one day, or even for just one show – but don’t miss this once-in-a-lifetime occasion.

All weekend passes are now officially sold out. But individual day and evening passes are still available for $25, and single show tickets will be sold at the door for $10 when available.
