WCDB-FM Anniversary Bash This Weekend @ the Low Beat

April 7th, 2016, 12:00 pm by Greg

University at Albany radio station WCDB-FM is celebrating its 38th anniversary this weekend, and the party is so big that it just couldn’t be confined to one night. So the folks from WCDB are taking over the Low Beat in Albany on Friday & Saturday (April 8 & 9) for a whopping two-night, seven-band bash that spans the musical gamut from jazz to rock.

The celebration kicks off with an evening of homegrown, Local 518 jazz on Friday. Powered by organist Michael Lamkin, WeB3 gets the ball rolling at 7pm, followed by the all-star quartet of saxman Brian Patneaude, guitarist George Muscatello, bassist Rich Syracuse and drummer Jeff “Siege” Siegel. Wrapping up the night will be Michael Benedict & Bopitude. Advance tickets are $10.

Then on Saturday (April 9), rock returns to the Low Beat’s no pepper stage with Speedy Ortiz holding down the headlining slot in support of their recently released album, Foil Deer. Rounding out Saturday’s line-up are Nashville’s Daddy Issues, NYC’s Noods and Saratoga’s own Candy Ambulance. Saturday’s music gets underway at 7pm, and tickets are $12 in advance; $14 at the door.

Congrats to WCDB-FM for keeping the music spinning for 38 years… and counting.
