FILM/MUSIC: The Silent Film Spectacular @ the Albany Public Library Main Branch, Albany. The kickoff of the spring season’s series finds Nelson Esposito Quintana (with special guest percussionist Bob Resnick) providing the live original improvised soundtrack for a screening of the 1913 British sci-fi film, “A Message From Mars.” 7pm. THEATER: “The Lion King” @ Proctors, Schenectady. The winner of six Tony Awards, including Best Musical, is helmed by director Julie Taymor, who brings to life a story filled with hope and adventure set against an amazing backdrop of stunning visuals. FILM/TALK: “Marwencol” @ Skidmore College’s Davis Auditorium, Saratoga Springs. A fascinating documentary. After a vicious attacks leaves him brain-damaged and broke, Mark Hogancamp seeks recovery in a 1/6th scale World War II-era town he creates in his backyard. Followed by a Q&A with director Jeff Malmberg. 6:30pm.
