Call it the Little Art Gallery That Could. Against all odds the Upstate Artists Guild has survived and even thrived on Lark Street in Albany for all these years. Of course, finances are always an issue for an arts organization, and the gallery has raised funds through their annual gala for the past five years.

This year, UAG’s Black & White Gala moved from the Normanside Country Club in Delmar to Albany’s Overit for the first time. And in addition to the food, fun, beverages and art, art, art, the bash also featured some very intriguing entertainment – from poet Dan Wilcox (who’s been a regular) to lounge-rockers Off the Record (back for the second year), from the Dust Bowl Faeries (led by the captivating Ryder Cooley) to the debut of Saint Thomas & the Self-Proclaimed Visionaries (featuring Local 518 music scene stalwarts, whose roots go back to the Sharks and Fear of Strangers).
